How can I join UEMR?

To be considered for joining UEMR:

  • Be a nationally and Texas state certified EMT-B or higher

  • Be a student, faculty, or staff member at the University of Texas at Dallas

  • Fill out an application here

  • Attend a scheduled interview

The application process concludes at the start of classes for each long semester.

What is an EMT?

EMT stands for emergency medical technician. It is a certification required for emergency responders that trains them in providing medical care in emergency situations.

How do I become an EMT?

To be an EMT, you must complete and pass an approved EMT course, then pass the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exam.

Who runs UEMR?

UEMR is almost completely student-run and reports to the UT Dallas Chief of Police.

When did UEMR start?

UEMR began in the Fall of 2017 by only working special events but has since grown to cover 911 response for the UT Dallas campus 24/7.

How do I call UEMR in the event of an emergency?

UEMR EMTs can be dispatched by calling the UT Dallas Police at (972) 883-2222.

How much does it cost to get seen by UEMR?

Nothing! Emergency services including the assessment and treatments that are provided by UEMR are free of charge.
